Hey y’all!

Did a little sewing project that I thought it would be fun to share today.

Using the idea of making a winter hat from the sleeves of a sweater, I made myself one using a pair if knee high slipper socks. The heel is the top center. I like hats that fit snug against the crown of my head, so this is perfect for me. I’ve got two more pair that are likely to become hats by next winter! The socks are really comfy, but I can only wear them for about 5 minutes before they are either too warm or are twisted since the heel ends up near my ankle on most one size fits all socks.

One of my remaining pairs has Jack Skellington on the toe, so I think I’ll add ear flaps made from that section so I can keep him. 🙂

As I was getting ready to toss the remainder of the socks into a retold scraps bag, I decided to try my hand at mittens. The toe box was too small, so I chopped it off and made fingerless mittens instead. To get enough length, I added some ribbing, salvaged from a sweatshirt a client had me remove the band from.

The gripper dots are on my palm, so they should be great for driving.
