SunDancerGEAtomic Mass Games (AMG) are now taking pre-order for two revamped boxes. Blizzard Force and Echo Base Defenders. Empire and Rebel themed boxes around the battle of Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back.
They did these for the original version of Star Wars: Legion (SW:L) and at the time I considered them a way to sell of old stock of minis to clear inventory for the retooled, proper plastic kits. I might have been wrong on that. And these boxes are set up different to the old ones. No vehicles or fast stuff, mostly troops. The old boxes where almost full sized 800 point boxes and these now are more aimed at 600 point skirmish games.

11 Stormtroopers ($54,99)
22 Snowtroopers [2 boxes] (2x $54,99) [no official price yet]
Ignoring Vader for a minute this box totals at $199,96 plus Vader. But it retails at $139,99 so a saving of $59,97.
Echo Base Defenders Special Edition Army Box

1 Leia Organa
1 Set C-3PO & R2-D2 ($34,99)
2 Mk II Medium Blaster Troopers ($34,99) [no official price yet]
20 Rebel Veterans [2 boxes] (2x $53,99) [no official price yet]

Ignoring Leia like her father before this box totals at approximately $227,95. Bear in mind that I had to „guestimate“ the prices for the Blaster Troops and Veterans. This box also retails at $139,99 so there is a potential saving of $87,96 to be had.
Now, do I need more Storm- or Snowtroopers or another Vader mini? No. Am I tempted by an alternative Leia sculpt? Yeah, kind of. But I must also keep in mind that I still want those Rebel and Empire Starter sets. And with a MSRP of $99,99 they offer way bigger saving potential. Still these themed sets feel like a good starting point for players who already are into SW:L and want a new faction. Product release is planned for April 2026. So will I buy any of it? Maybe. Depends.
On the other hand, one can never have enough minis. Or am I wrong? XD
