Today in 1814, 212 years ago: the Spanish Cortes set a series of measures in the face of the imminent return of Ferdinand VII, in order to impose themselves on the monarch (the absolutists' last hope for restoring the old regime). Thus, the Regency marks the itinerary that the monarch must follow on his return, the honors with which he must be received and the oath of the Constitution of 1812 as a preliminary step for his recognition.
