Well this has to go to my defined Fallout 76 (Online game) character Candiece Pjatcrzs or because Americans (an I as her German creator) butcher it all the time Candiece Patcresh. She is a skilled medic & in Vault 76 she used to care a lot for others. After hitting the post nuclear wasteland her first encounter was with a group of cannibals who captured her parents.
A lot of messed up stuff happened their after all cannibals.
Candy was 17 at that time and managed to survive a year as a captive before she revenged her parents in the most brutal and imaginable way.
She still eats human flesh 7 years later. She now has a daughter she adopted from the wasteland and she steals and kills to prevent her from eating human flesh.
She is unhinged and has a weird moral compass, when it comes to killing & stealing.

"how do you feel about them?"

She is a cannibal so I don't think she is redeemable even with her better sides.

Do you enjoy writing "good", "bad" or morally gray characters more? Why?

Morality is not set in stone. We all have different things we see as morally acceptable.

I don't want to go into too many details because that would involve real world politic examples and how my characters would deal with them.

In Rome animal cruelty was seen differently as it is today.

History has shown what dictatorships do.

Morality as a concept does not know what's good and bad it depend's on us to set this up for reality and our stories.

I prefer complex characters that at points come into conflict with their own moral codices even if they look like your run of the mill goodie two shoes.

Share a vivid sensory description from your story. What was writing it like?

She kissed Arkham passionately, sending the younger woman into a nosedive of emotion, her thoughts were possessed by the lips & tongue of her beloved, she felt her own pulse almost taking her breath away. Then Kira tenderly slid her lips over Arkham's face, over her cheek to her ear & again Arkham heard like this honey like sound when Kira whispered so fervently that Arkham got goosebumps.

It's not perfectly translated from German because I used Auto translation and only glanced over it.

It's part of a sex scene so I was curious and exited where it would go and end up. A bit of the aftermath can be read on today's German Phantastik Prompts answer. And also somewhere here on Mastodon but I don't have much Time at hand.

Look back at the first thing you wrote. What did you do right?

I made a decent / while my - and \ weren't as good. It was one of my earliest things to learn, I think I was 6, not yet 7 or 6 1/2. Since then I really improved. I learned all the letters not only A.Not to mention numbers.

...
...
😬

I don't really remember I started writing early but nothing really survived the time unlike memories of things other people did. I have a vivid memory for decade old acts...

I have a folder with stuff I started with 16 I was pretty much goth, gloomy, weirdly happy with dark stuff I didn't fully understood back than (like was f*cking existential fear means). I was able to rhyme talking and writing extremely fluent in German a skill my brain didn't preserve. Maybe because it isn't very useful if you already struggle to be taken seriously.

I have to dig this folder up. Where did I saw it last time.šŸ¤”

If you found out that someone had to live your MC’s life (like in the ā€œStranger than Fictionā€ movie), would you change the story?

That is so highly unlikely as long we are not in a fictional universe ourselves, space travel might after all be impossible, faster than light seems impossible, our A.I.s are "for 'e a$$" to badly translate a German way of expressing displeasure with something/a situation.

Let me ask you this, if you knew you and your loved ones where marionettes would you ask the puppeteer to cut the strings, knowing that your legs are unable to stand, your arms are unable to hold, to offer comfort to your beloved laying down on the ground without the strings?

If I would learn that I am in fact responsible for someone's life through writing I wouldn't change their life I would start changing life's of people I think of harmful for everyone.

Share an important or fun lesson you’ve learned as a writer.

What ever works for you the best is probably your "right" way of writing.

What’s the most rewarding thing about writing?

If everything falls in place and becomes "a real story."

What’s the most frustrating thing about writing?

Time and my inability to motivate myself...

Have you ever talked to a reader of your story? How did it go.

Not recently and not for the current (permanent) WIP.

Have you ever dedicated your work to someone?

So far not yet. Nothing ever gone more than some niche free release on a niche website before 2015 so...

MC POV: Sit down, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. What do you see in your mind’s eye?

Kira: "Thanks no, I rather not invite that imagery."

Arkham: "I can tell you that I see the backside of my eyelids."

Ashlei: "I can not close my eyes and it is not advisable to shut down the ships sensors."

What would you tell a fellow writer who was struggling with self-doubt?

Cats don't worry about being a good cat or a bad cat, they are just cats & people go crazy about them, they love them, they hate them, they adore them & go totally bonkers about them, for just being cats.
What can we learn from cats as writing people?

It doesn't matter, that your text is weird, that you drop stuff & have 5 minutes of seeing ghosts of other writing folk haunting you, as long as you stand up, knock something over & pretend this was the plan all along while looking adorable? Or maybe better just relax & do what you like? It's your life, your story, your decisions. We all struggle & pretend to be okay, so don't worry to much, you will find a way.

Choose whatever fits you the most, I'm sure you look cute with cat ears none the less.

SC POV: You get an unlimited budget to buy one thing. The money can’t be used for other purposes. What will you get?

The D30 Deathnote oracle chose (see Phantastik Prompts 13.02.2026 I answered today for the random list) Matriarc in that case I interpret SC as Side character. She is a form of Antagonist in the sense of does things that are actually considered evil by most like killing others to push their political goals, which to be fair wouldn't be that problematic if they would be reached peacefully.

Matriarc: "Power! The Power of people and weapons to end the reign of Terror the Union and the Alliance tolerated for so long.
As long all Bethosians are not equal, I will not rest,
as long we are not equals
I detest,
I will bury their false song.
I am here to right the wrong.
First of the denied.

And for some reasons often her messages look like this ...

14. Who does your antagonist care about?

Ayanami: Pursuit of project "Seele" (soul) as we learned of today thanks to the Phantastik Prompts.

AriƦne Johnsen: Making sure that Ayanami is sophisticated with the current mission. Maybe some time with their personal assistant they calls her K., K. wears the typical black hench uniform of the Nethrazier Crew under Ayanami's orders but K. helps calm down AriƦne in their worst moments, if the fractured memories & loss of memories become the worst emotional chaos for AJ. Like waking up not understanding where they are or who K. is and not knowing why K. knows so much about Kiara, AJ's dead wife, where AJ hides their valuable Diaries or which notes they scribbled on their forearms the day before.
K. does a lot more than Ayanami would allow if 'them' would know about it, like showing her face.

Describe your MC’s eyes.

Kira: Right eye green left eye violet blue.

Arkham: bright red brown that seems to get darker in certain conditions.

Ashlei ... Well she has no eyes, her 'vision' is so to different sensors, camera's and microphones in and outside, the outside sensors can have a colored light depending on distance, stealthy scan mode, etc in some instances a red light flashes from left to right or down and up (and vice versa) depending on the scan situation. The scanners are scattered amongst her outer hull and inside the ship, they are powerful enough to trace certain markers through Planetary atmosphere like a special gene combination but this costs time. In space thhe scanner "can see easily" not hidden or obscured objects in 15 - 20 AU distance.
1 Astronomical Unit = 149.597.870.700 Meters/149.597.870,7 Kilometers

Pluto is around 39,5 AU out there.

If your MC had a statue put up in their honor, what would it be for?

Kira would probably protest heavily but if it isn't avoidable. A naked one of her, bend forwards kneeling with one hand in the ground, grabbing the soil, her other hand covering her face and stoney tears running down her arm.
She would make it clear that the names of the fallen she wears on her back as tattoos and scars are copied and carved into the grey stone.
A memorial plaque looking like an endless scroll coiling around her legs and, piling up around her, in front of her with all the names of people who died in the war or defending the location where it is erected. In the size of her bodies size.

Arkham no chance in all equivalents of hell, she would rather blast the place to pieces.

Shipsstatues of a similar type of the Ghoz'Tarc and others are actually exist often showing up at Alliance facilities.

Would you still write if you had to use a typewriter or pen and paper?

Pen probably yes paper only in non single sheet form. My handwriting has suffered a lot since the phone became your gateway to everything and never was very good to begin with. I also use a weird combination of cursive and single letter writing but I can hold the line for most of the text. I often do handwritten notes on the side or for passwords and I just recently bought a cheap fountain pen because I wanted to try to improve my handwriting again.

But dealing with loose sheets of paper... No thanks same goes for typing on a typewriter. And don't get me started with all the errors and mistakes I make...šŸ˜…

Can your MC carry a tune?

Kira: "I'm at a loss the psychological assessment is in Terran English again, who actually speaks this Swex today? Why is it asking me to carry a fish?"

Arkham: "It's not asking for a fish, did you sleep in the old Terran language sessions?"

K: "Well I know that high Terran Standard only has a 1% similarity according to the science guys. That their are low Terran Standard variants that use up to 35%"

A: "Fancy words to say you slept through your lessons. The fish you thinking about is the extinct Tuna this word has a silent e at the end, it sounds closer to toon than tuna it's asking you if you can sing or whistle.

K.: "Oh than it's easy. No I don't sing, at all."

A.: "Lucky for you I can, my mother made sure of that. In the end it's useful."

K.: "For what?"

A.: "A lot of stuff."

K.: "Fancy words to say for nothing."

Arkham poked her elbow into Kira's rips.

Does your antagonist believe in the supernatural?

Ayanami: only if it helps their* goal even if project Seele (project soul) sounds pretty much as if they* believe in such things. If it gets people to do your bidding it's good enough to be used.

*the pronouns are stand ins fir a possible group or entity of people, no one knows enough about Ayanami. For all that the crew of henches knows it could easily be an AI but AI's have no money or power Ayanami has both.

AriƦne: no AriƦne didn't believe in mythical, supernatural or esoteric stuff as they had a functioning memory and they still doesn't believe in it. Only less understood science and scientific phenomenons. If you can't explain it without any mythology/supernatural/esoteric your simply missing knowledge about 'the thing.'

What tropes are in your current project?

I can't tell because it isn't finished yet. And I use tropes to start characters but try to break them up somehow.

As an example I write a SciFi story and name a ship the Red Herring.
That's just a bad Easter egg but how could i make a character out of this.

Captain Red. Since I prefer female characters (which doesn't mean they are cis* hetero by default) let's make her read female.
Herring... could have problems listening or processing things people say to her (shifting Herring to hearing) maybe she wears red tear tattoos (Herring -> hearing -> tearing -> tears) or tear drop shaped earrings in blood red. This earrings might be cut from an ancient spacer treasure stolen from a royal family.
Is Red a pirate? The daughter or granddaughter if a pirate? What is her Job? Smuggler? Like Han Solo in Star Wars or does she has an evil streak smuggling people?

@AnnaSaultron I agree, there is no one "right" way to write, just things that will work for you and your story specifically. There is always nuance and exceptions even to the most widely-accepted rules.
@AlinaLeonova exactly and if your writing consists of "the worst approaches" of building a text (not necessary it's content) according to "writing teachers" it's okay if it works for you.
