France Just Created Its Own Open Source Alternative to Microsoft Teams and Zoom

Not only for them, but any other non-European videoconferencing software.

It's FOSS

@itsfoss

Right... that's it...
I'm moving to France !

@itsfoss En tous cas! Auf jeden Fall! For shure! The french President is so pissed of everything that comes from the greatest country asshole (GröFatZ), that he and the hole country is ready and willing to get independant again.
@itsfoss knowing there history of meddling with oss and the teams maintaining them im sure they will do just great (sarcastic)
@itsfoss of course, there are plenty of open source alternatives.
@itsfoss but it's called Visio ???

@ToshInMacc
Yes. Because the French word for a web meeting is visioconférence.

I had a 70+ meeting on Visio yesterday, all was fine, not a single person complained about camera, sound, etc.
@itsfoss

@Galamadryade @itsfoss wow, sounds good (except for having 70 meetings in one day!)
@ToshInMacc
One meeting ! with 70+ persons !
@itsfoss
@Galamadryade @itsfoss Ha ha, now I read your post more closely, I see my mistake. 😎

@itsfoss
"Guys we have a new open source solution to avoid using US solutions !"

"Awesome, which platform should we host the code on? Gitlab ? @Codeberg ?"

"Github 💀 !"

@itsfoss
Someone with a quarter century research experience in industrial computing and electronics confirms that LibreOffice is still unusable in practice. This applies to technical & scientific report writing as well as office work.

Not only are new employees unfamiliar with it, but also design faults in the specifications are known & discussed on bug reporting platforms. I won't try to list them, but a review is urgently needed with assessment of possible outside 'interference'.

Must not forget the VBA ecosystem coupled to Excel, which allowed me to get work done during the 2 or 3 years it took for corporate IT to refuse my development submissions.
