BrathI'm in the process of finding the best alternative for replacing Google Photos with a non-US alternative (preferably European) and so far the choice seems to be between #Jottacloud, #Ente, and #Nextcloud (hosted at #Hetzner). Ente seems to be the most polished, but their casting to TV is crappy. Jottacloud works perfectly and is cheap, but lack built-in photo editing. Nextcloud doesn't have video thumbnails, but is the cheapest at the 1 TB i currently need.

I started using it this week to explore Google Photos alternative. So below my first impression:
- Photos are fully encrypted on the server, and only you have the encryption key.
- They only focus on photos/videos and it really feels they are building a native experience.
- Their roadmap is public and I like the features that are coming up.
- They provide a desktop app that makes importing from Google Takeout very easy which makes it easier to switch.
