ENGLAND: A union representing Anglican ministers has decided to offer martial arts classes to vicars after a survey revealed that one in eight ministers has been assaulted.
A vicar's job is more dangerous than that of a probation officer or doctor, according to the Manufacturing, Science and Finance Union, which will organize the classes. More than 1,500 Church of England clergy belong to the union

In 2001 the MSF merged with the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union to form Amicus. The General Secretary of MSF from 1992 until the merger with Amicus was Roger Lyons, who continued as Joint General Secretary of Amicus's MSF section. In 2007 Amicus merged with the TGWU to form Unite.
