Normally when you have 15-30 minutes to kill in a film, you go film *interesting* stuff at a circus or zoo, or stock footage. Here, they've found nighttime with zoo cages. And still nothing's happening. Then it just fades out, because even '60s England had animal cruelty laws.

Quatermass and the Pit is *so* much better and Q is at least 50% less villainous in it. He has the biggest Mark Zuckerberg energy in Xperiment. I've never seen a film so blatantly make the main character, whose name is in the title, just an unloveable soulless experiment-until-dead-then-study-the-corpses parody of a scientist.
Dr Frankenstein *does* have a moral turn. Brundle in the remake of The Fly? Charming old John Hammond means well.

I guess Re-Animator, but Herbert West again means well, and Jeffrey Combs is funny.
The Dunwich Horror? Dean Stockwell's the most charming weirdo, and is legitimately evil and summoning his Other Father.
Dr Quatermass: Possibly not as bad as the worst two H.P. Lovecraft villains, but less charming.
