upcoming fediverse events

This curated collection of global Fediverse events showcases the rapid expansion and technical diversification of the decentralized social web throughout 2026. Covering a wide range of activities from local meetups in Montreal and Berlin to large-scale international gatherings like DWeb Camp and FediDay, the schedule emphasizes core themes of digital sovereignty, protocol development, and public institution integration. Technical sessions delve into specific frameworks such as ATProto, Bonfire, and Hubzilla, while broader discussions address the evolution of W3C social web standards and the impact of regional regulations like the Digital Services Act. These gatherings facilitate critical knowledge sharing and collaboration for those building the next generation of open, interoperable communication infrastructures.

Hackers' Pub
seems like piefed is either not getting the edits or its taking a really long time
hmm noticed this comment doesn’t seem to federate back to hackers pub, @[email protected] should federation be working between the two?

That would be because activitypub.space doesn't have any existing federation (not even one way) with hackers.pub

a.s received the topic through an announce by @[email protected], but on its own won't receive edits unless perhaps you mention @technical-discussion 🙂

Likewise the comment reply won't propagate back as nobody from hollo.social follows this category.

That said....... It should send the replies back to you. That could be improved.

@julian @hongminhee all these issues are showing the rough edges of the fediverse. if a post goes "goes" somewhere in the fediverse it should also be able to update and get mentions and all the other things one expects, if that doesn't work, then we have issues we need to figure out!

@[email protected] @[email protected] completely agreed.

Potentially something like "follow a conversation" in the background could smooth out these rough edges.

Maybe that Mention trick you floated the other day… Just have every reply mention everyone in the conversation all of the time.
@[email protected] hahah yes. I still have to sneak that into the code and see what havoc it wreaks
@rimu not sure where to post this but figured here is just as bad as anywhere. Piefed is showing @julian as being called @[email protected] in the notifs

@[email protected] yeah I noticed that the other day too. It's my uid, but my username is in preferredUsername!

Looks like Piefed chopped the last path portion off my ID instead 😬😁

it seems like this post I made in hackers pub still isn’t getting any updates into piefed, but it does show updates on nodebb
@wakest @[email protected] cc @rimu @hongminhee I have been updating the OP on hackers pub and piefed hasn't gotten any of the updates it seems. looking at it from NodeBB it is indeed getting the updates from there so I can tell that its definitely something that needs fixing or bug reporting, but I don't know where the bug even is to report
