Scott 🇮🇱🇺🇦 WILL NOT COMPLY

CBP Überfuhrer Bovino (whose name is Italian for "animal that produces prodigious quantities of bullshit"—seriously, look it up) produced the following feculent effluent at a press conference earlier today:

"[. . .] when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement, calling law enforcement names like 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping', that is a choice that is made. There are actions and consequences that come from those choices."

To which I respond:

  • You can't "vilify' actual #villains.
  • #Gestapo is the kindest analogy one can imagine for your organization of #fascist #terrorists by any reasonable analysis of its actions
  • #Kidnapping buries the lede: the bigger story is the #incarceration, #abuse, #torture, and extra-judicial expulsion that follows. the kidnapping.

    • This message (and, at this point, dozens or hundreds of others I've posted) was my choice. So where are the consequences, you feckless #Nazi asshat?

    Bovine's nauseating narrative at this press conference (seriously, don't bother to watch it unless you completely lack a gag reflex) will be used in future courses in #rhetoric, #journalism, #political science, and #history as a pure example of #fascist #propaganda and manipulation.

    Seriously: Goebbels had nothing on this guy.

    He frames everything in terms of "choices" and "consequences"; but this is manipulation, a strawman: everybody agrees that choices can have consequences.

    But he conveniently forgets to categorize these "consequences" as just or unjust, good or evil. He pretends that murder is simply a consequence of choosing to help a person who's been injured, much as a broken window is the consequence of carelessly throwing a baseball. It's just physics; one thing logically follows the other. It's #causality, and who can argue with that?

    But of course he's conveniently leaving out the point that the #racist #thugs masquerading (literally) as law enforcement officers that he's released in American cities are also making choices.

    They chose to murder a mother of three as she engaged in non-violent civil disobedience, shooting her three times in the face.

    They chose to murder an ICU nurse as he bent over an injured woman, making sure she was alright. "Are you OK?" were his last words before they chose to riddle his body with bullets, even after he'd fallen.

    And every day they choose to abduct (and yes, Bovino, that means #kidnap) peaceful civilians—citizens and non-citizens; at work, at home, and at school—without #dueProcess, and to #incarcerate them, and to #abuse, #starve, and #terrorize them.

    Those are choices, Il Duce Bovino. They are choices the masked goons made on the street, and choices you made at every turn—including the choice you're making now to defend those choices.

    You speak of #consequences. Where are the consequences of these choices—beyond the death, grief, and terror gripping our communities?
