Are you trans / gender-fun, an Engineering Manager (or Director, etc), in or around London, UK, and would like to attend LeadDev.com this year in early June?

If so, I have 1 free ticket to allocate to someone and I would really like to support other trans people managers in tech to be there.

It's a good conference, and will help you in your role, and yes I'm going too but I would like to help other trans eng leaders to be there.

Feel free to boost if this is not you, DM if it is you.

damn, lack of responses is really highlighting how few trans people are in eng leadership roles 😢

@dee sometimes I wonder if I would have ended up following the software engineering management path had I not had a supervisor who weaponised my poor self-image and lowkey depression to bully me out of that career path at an early stage. How many trans folks get derailed well before they even come out as trans because they are dealing with shit cishet men don’t have to?

Anyway, it’s all correlation with no proof of causation for me, but that’s kind of what happened to my career.

@dee I'm a tech lead but don't have any line management responsibilities so not sure if I count!
@dee Non-binary director in an HPC org. Sadly, I do not live in the UK but in the Upside Down of America. :/
@dee can't find a job :/
@dee I am, but I'm not in London  I do get to attend a regional managers meeting for my field twice a year, and I am the only trans manager there. There is one other trans person, but he is not a manager.
@dee it's a great conference and that's a lovely offer, happy to boost
@dee not trans myself but happy to boost. Hopefully it will help someone.
@dee Ugh, if only I wasn't in backwater US of A.

@dee Folks seeing this from my timeline - this is a great conference, with a decent proportion of People Who Give A [Your Favorite Term Here] about the human aspects of team leadership and management.

Also, in terms of Gender Rep, they had a photo of me talking as the conference header for a while. I am Very Obviously Nonbinary on stage, and nobody blinked about that being the first thing folks saw. I noticed.

@dee Nice! I plan to go there
@dee while I am, I'm outside of London and who knows what my june may bring.
