Genuary 20226 Day 1: "One color, one shape."

This was a challenging one for me, since I usually use lots of color. I went with an "*" as the shape and played with transparency, size, and movement.

I posted about some of my thinking for my supporters: https://www.patreon.com/posts/146762388

Genuary 2026 Day 2: Twelve principles of animation.

For this one, I'm taking inspiration from the example of how horses run, with body carrying through. But I'm going to try some version of it with lizards.

I wrote a bit more about it: https://www.patreon.com/posts/147034875

Genuary 2026 Day 3: "Fibonacci forever..."

For this one, I'm going with abstract flowers and 'petal' numbers, skipping over 0,1,1,2 and starting at 3.

I'm playing and exploring ideas and getting some pretty images as output.

Genuary 2026 Day 4: "Lowres. An image or graphic with low resolution, where details are simplified or pixelated."

I had fun with this one!

Genuary 2026 Day 6: "Lights on/off. Make something that changes when you switch on or off the “digital” lights."

For this one, I redrew parts of a colorful image as greyscale. The result turned out a bit subtle.

Genuary 2026 Day 7: "Boolean algebra. Get inspired by Boolean algebra, in any way."

It did say "in any way". So I went with circles from a venn diagram and got the colors by randomly sampling pixels in an existing image: the red flower drawing I used yesterday.

Genuary 2026 Day 8: "A City. Create a generative metropolis."

I did this one really fast. This whole month goes by really fast.

Genuary 2026 Day 9: "Crazy Automaton"

Cellular Automaton can be pretty fun to play with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_automaton

Instead of a crazy 'rule', I decided to do something a little crazy in the image: I sampled and inverted colors in pixels according to rule 30.

Genuary 2026 Day 10: "Polar coordinates."

Playing with spirals and color progressions for this one.

Genuary 2026 Day 11: "Quine. A Quine is a form of code poetry, it’s a computer program that outputs exactly its own source code."

For this one, I'm going to cheat a bit, and share an old piece. It's a python script titled "Self-Drawing Code", and it generates an image from the character string of it's own code. https://kristinhenry.github.io/selfDrawingCode/

Genuary 2026 Day 13: "Self portrait"

For this one, I sampled pixels in a photo of myself wearing an Axolotl suit at City Hall. I did this in two runs: one at very low resolution and then another in slightly higher resolution in just the area with me in it.

Genuray 2026 Day 14: "Everything fits perfectly."

While working on this one, I started experimenting with creating an SVG from one of my hand drawn patterns. It's been a long time since I've done that. Ha!

Genuary 2026 Day 15: "Create an invisible object where only the shadows can be seen."

This one didn't turn out as I initially intended. But partway through working on it, it really wanted to go in this direction.

Genuary 2026 Day 16: "Order and disorder."

I had fun with this one. Yeah, I have fun with all of them, but this one gave me a little extra joy. At each "generation" I added a little more noise.

Genuary 2026 Day 17: "Wallpaper group"

I definitely want to come back to this one, and explore more. Wallpaper 'tiling' also works great for textiles.

Genuary 2026 Day 22: "Pen plotter ready"

It's not really plotter ready, but it looks like it could be. It's also a modified version of yesterday's challenge.

Genuary 2026 Day 23: "Transparency. Explore the concept of transparency."

I usually play with transparency in my works, especially with color progressions. So, for this one I'm going back to what I created for the "One Color One Shape" challenge, and play with adding color progression and even more transparency and layering colors.

Genuary 2026 Day 28: "No libraries, no canvas, only HTML elements."

Ok, I did use a library for this one for some of it, but it's a CSS library: css-doodle. https://css-doodle.com/

I made these flowers with my little "Flowermaker" toy, which uses css-doodle, and saved them as PNG files.
https://artatomic.itch.io/flowermaker

Then I loaded them into <img> tags in an html doc, and positioned them randomly in a div.

Genuary 2026 Day 29: "Genetic evolution and mutation."

I had a lot of ideas for this, and got started on one...then I got distracted by something partway through working on my idea. And I couldn't resist playing with it. I'm gonna go with calling this one an evolution of colors, with RGB and the genes of the colors. Ha!

Genuary 2026 Day 31: "GLSL day. Create an artwork using only shaders."

I know it's suggested that we play with Shaders. But I'm in a creative zone and not wanting to switch tools right now. So, I'm going back to an old project and play with it a bit more.
