That’s not how I’d store a gun…

That’s how I store the one I keep in my nightstand overnight for self defense. That’s also how I carry it. Not gonna do me much good if it’s not ready to fire.
Unlocking and cocking take less than three seconds and add a lot of safety, I see no reason to ever put a gun out of my hand in such a dangerous state
I’m not willing to give the psycho I bought it to protect myself from 3 seconds to cave my skull in with a bat

If you’re so concerned with such a scenario, I’d rather suggest you get something to detect intruders earlier so that 3 seconds don’t matter.

Also as others have pointed out, you’re replacing one risk with another way more likely one. But you do you.

I’m concerned with such a scenario because the guy lives 2 doors down from me. He’s threatened me before and I have video of him staring at my bedroom window in the middle of the night, pointing at it, and swinging a bat.

A well built and maintained gun isn’t going to fire unless you pull the trigger. I live alone, my holster covers the trigger and I practice trigger discipline. When I’m handling the gun. I’ll be fine.

And as such you should put alarms on your doors and windows to have extra time.
