@PhoenixSerenity Indeed! You never heard my serious, dangerously serious experiences as a Vietnam protester, friends with Black Panthers and SDS folks, and co-editor of a real underground newspaper. It was great risk with unreal, evil consequences if certain members of a community caught you. After all at this time period, a guy caught with 6 joints in his jacket could and did ten to 30 years in prison.

@cobalt123 Except I never chose to be a US terrorism invasion war baby. We share many common human rights beliefs but we are far from the same - except being human beings. People in USA could choose to protest. My Dad was arrested & put into a torture/detainment camp for 9 months, beat severely every day & he was barely able to talk when he was thrown on side of a road afterwards. That was his consequences for protesting.
I was born only 2 months after my Dad was released. We still had no idea if some of our family members were still alive at the time. Our experiences are not the same at all.
I understand your compassion. Please don't ever try to compare to our war experiences when USA military literally mass murdered our family 8n front of our eyes. We won't ever forgive.
@PhoenixSerenity Oh gosh, I am not even thinking about our *history* in living, ONLY about the very active and effective social action and political action that you demonstrate and I’ve admired and follow as often as I can. You’ve been arrested more times than me. You been beat and harmed a lot, your family and friends too, and yet you don’t give up. But most significant, you did not have the “benefits” of being white. I did. Huge differences but we do have some convergence and why we connected.

I’m outside in what used to be call “the Majority”. If you are white American and if you were born and raised American it’s getting more insane how there is even more pressure now to be a White Nationalist and jingo “America First!” Or MAGA. I’m in a polar opposite angle to you by birth and experience, but I never thought I’d come to abhor my own country for so many reasons we do have in common, as well as each of us adds some some very unique differences and issues Americans aren’t raised to even be f’-n aware of. I completely distrust the government. I started getting strong inklings about this “America, Land of the Free” when I was about 8 in 1957-58. Got stronger and stronger vibes and now I’m freakin’ 74 and way past the days of my Old Skool best, and most important AND most effective direct action.
I’m describing why I see direct action NOW is extremely and historically important. I look up to you and cheer you on.
Sometimes it’s exhausting and how insane white privilege has gotten.And I’m calling out rampant white privilege all over the world. Look how popular the fascists are getting all over the world. Fear and loathing are key emotions to blind eyesight, insight and mind. Othering is getting worse. Genocide is ok. Religion and churches are now totally in politics and Church is State. Jeez, it’s 2026 people, c’mon, give me a break. We have trillionaires and billionaires openly buying whole countries and taking over tech and playing damn Oligarch games that kill people.
I was taught the best of humanity, compassion and good progress, science and education gives hope, better lives and better stewardship of Mother Earth. What HELL happened!!!
I’ve read a lot of history and world history and not just from Western authors. I can’t do a lot but I can talk one to one to people, share information and help teach kids and teens. All I can do these days is support whoever is fighting strong and brilliantly against racism, fascism and all the Evil that lately seems to be winning. @PhoenixSerenity that’s fine. Have no idea how some Americans will ever understand how abhorrent the US leadership has become and crucially, witness the vast number of supporters including people who flock to get into ICE and the numbers of Americans who are now war profiteers.
Think of how many people are making hand over fist dollars, from outfitting our own law enforcement as military overlords against us. Then there are those making untold billions from supplying actual war machines all over the world.
We even funded enormous tech powers against our whole population. Bio identification at airports, doorbell cameras, Flock with its recording of all vehicle traffic, police and ICE and the many allied law enforcement people can and do routinely use vast databases of most citizens and and switch on surveillance of communication, no matter what type.
Then there are the people who profit by trying to dominate social media selling something that may or may not be a “product” or services.
Think of how the US leadership in power came together quickly, maybe 24 hours, when Charlie Kirk, a religious White Nationalist who went after college students who are voters, in TurningPoint USA, was murdered publicly. This whole country was supposed to honor this man as a martyr and an extravaganza of a memorial service came together in less than a week. President and VP prominent speakers, white faith leaders preaching away, crowds of crying white people, maybe all fashionably dressed and ready for their national spotlight cameos.
At this point those who have White privilege and don’t notice it every day may never get it—because it is now oozed into a badge of identity, of honor and pride. One is a Good Guy because Others are the bad guys. This is by design and has been for decades and hundreds of years now in the USA. There are far more Others now and people have fallen into the spell of Fear and Loathing. Seek security in Power at all costs.
There are a lot of Others all these profiteers and charlatans and grifters and scammers and spies and snitches are coming down at from every angle. Who among us are going to approve these methods and goals presented by Power and Money?
I have fear because that point of view is now pervasive overt reality, and acceptable now. Churches manufacture morality and the seal of approval to support the State and the State is happy to be guided by the Church. The White Christian Nationalists and Prosperity Churches that profit from conformity and Power.
