My mom is ready to move to linux, but since I'm a newbie myself, I need to ask you for help with this:
Apart from mails and surfing, she also uses her pc to back up her phone pictures. She copies them to her pc ad there's an external hard drive connected to it. We set up automatic mirroring of the files from the pc to the external ssd. So she basically doesn't have to take care for it except dropping her files to her computer.

I'd appreciate any help with this :)

Thank you everyone for the recommendations, I will look into them soon :)

@kawunngg

I kinda have similar, where particular folders on the laptop get mirrored to an external SSD. I'm using a little systemd service, which needs a couple of scripts in particular directories, and a couple of command-line things to get it started.

Someone may have a simpler solution but if not DM me and I'll ping you what I use, and you can amend as required.

@kawunngg are you asking how to replicate the file mirroring part of your workflow on Linux?

Look into Kbackup or Deja Dup

What distro is she (or will be) using?
