Was it really necessary to show that a Pongal poojai and celebration is being interrupted by family members wanting to go to Wonderla? Sure, Pongal is usually a 4-day celebration in Tamil Nadu and that in itself lends the holidays perfectly to an outing like Wonderla - I get that. But why show in an ad that during a poojai on Pongal, which is the very point of the festival beyond fun and enjoyment, family members are disinterested and are desperate to get out of it? 1/4
2/4 What we do not end up seeing is completing the poojai and the familiar 'Pongalo Pongal' chant that accompanies the overflowing vessel. What we do see is everyone in the family who had gathered to celebrate pongal literally vanish and land up in Wonderla's Chennai location!
3/4 There is a time for Majaa (Wonderla) and there is a time to be sincere in thanking the appropriate Gods during a festival (in this case, Sun God). I could understand if only kids behaved like that during the prayer - but even adults are shown to behaving like this! Why? To create 'drama'? There are so many other ways to dramatize the situation that leads to family members heading to Wonderla during Pongal holidays.

4/4 What is even more surprising is the fact that this ad is not by some agency from South Mumbai or Gurgaon, but by Chennai-based OPN Advertising.
