Hamsun's is quite a story, but racism was kind of the default setting in humanity before the mid 20th century. And Hamsun was a legit Nazi.
But I don't think conflating him with Machado is entirely fair. That said, I do agree that everyone should learn about Knut Hamsun. Most revile him today but he's a hero to the meo-nazi movement.
We must learn of their heroes so we detect the dog whistles of which there are MANY as of late, straight from POTUS.
