2026-01-23 is the day of the #MinnesotaGeneralStrike, which (apparently to avoid the barmy stigma that U.S.A. people attach to the word 'strike') they are calling a 'Day of Truth and Freedom'.
It has been called in response to the death of #ReneeGood and the general military and paramilitary violence in the U.S.A. over the past few months.
The #Minnesota Star Tribune and FOX9 have failed so far to report this. But CBS has it.
All the power to them, but I don't understand why they are waiting to go on strike? Give ICE more time to embolden themselves? The occupation is happening NOW so something has to be done NOW, or it will just become harder to get the occupators out...
Also, just for one day? What?
Because that is not how the world works. Witness this very thread. It's almost 24 hours since the announcement, yet people are still only just learning about it.
M. Bates Imari said in the press conference (q.v.) that the lead time was there to organize, to get the word out, to campaign MN businesses such as #Target to "pick a side" when it comes to their employees. Clearly, it takes days just to do one of those.
