Another of Glasgow's surviving Georgian villas. This one is on Saint George's Road and comes from the very end of the Georgian period in the 1830s.

Glasgow had a quite a specific pattern of development as the city expanded. First, individual villas, like this one, were build on the outskirts of the city, then came the terraces of grand townhouses, followed by block of tenements as the population density increased. This is the last remaining original villa on the Woodside area of Glasgow.

In areas like Woodside, large numbers of tenement were then demolished in the post-war years to be replaced by high rise flats. Many of these are now being demolished themselves to be replaced by modern versions of tenements.
