As (once again) having announced a proposal (for the second time a restriction on jury trials), the Govt. is looking for ways to 'soften' David Lammy's most recent version of the plan to reduce the backlog of trials by cutting back on the option for defendant to elect to have a jury... we might (again) ask:

how does the Govt., keeping finding itself in the position of having to shift position in light of opposition, that takes few outside Govt. by surprise?

@ChrisMayLA6 Perhaps because the Labour high command are as out of touch with their own MPs as they are with their core voters?

And so, the own goals just keep coming.

@ChrisMayLA6

At a rough guess, the "Govt" got elected by fluke given the gerrymandered &&&&show the Blue Tories set up, thusly lacked* any coherent plan FOR government; presumably assuming a Hung Parliament as the outcome.

From what i've read, most of these ideas have been floating for years and the Civil Service et al keeps trying to get a Govt stupid enough to take them on.
The phrase "Transport Supremo/Muggins" springs to mind.

Ultimately, LINO are utter morons with the acting ability of Arnie; sans the comic talent.

*Clearly still lacking, in so many ways...

@ChrisMayLA6 Blockbuster lyric time again?
And on the Blockbuster theme would Keir say “I’ll have a U please Bob”?
