@whitequark what is disappointing for me is that framework went from respectable to fascist between my order(Q2) to delivery(Q4) cycle.

@amt my view is that they (the CEO) were always Like This, but at first they managed to deceive a lot of people by not being loud and proud about the ideas involved

either way, there's no shame in admitting being wrong and cutting your losses. the chunk of metal and silicon by itself isn't, like, cursed

@whitequark @amt I don't get the people who wanted to get rid of their laptops for that reason, it's not like Framework got to Tesla levels of association with Bad People

What makes me sad is that I bought my Framework a few years back with the hope that it would be my last laptop for a long time, and now I don't know what to do when it comes time to upgrade it

@turmoni @whitequark oh I am not getting rid of it and frankly not that rich to discard expensive stuff for ideology. It’s just a bitter pill to swallow.
@amt oh yeah sorry I didn't think you were, it was in relation to the hardware still being fine and functional when I saw people wanting to get rid of them

@turmoni
Oh damn it i was just looking at one as I need a new laptop. Is it back to thinkpads then?

@whitequark @amt

@swantzter I dunno, my Framework should still last me a really long time since I don't use a laptop all that often and have a nice powerful desktop for the rest of the time

This is in relation to https://community.frame.work/t/framework-supporting-far-right-racists/ which was an ultimately disappointing situation where at no point did they at all address promoting or supporting DHH, only Hyprland

Framework supporting far-right racists?

We support open source software (and hardware), and partner with developers and maintainers across the ecosystem. We deliberately create a big tent, because we want open source software to win. We don’t partner based on individuals’ or organizations’ beliefs, values, or political stances outside of their alignment with us on increasing the adoption of open source software. We’ve sent out large quantities of hardware to folks at Fedora, Bluefin, Bazzite, NixOS, Arch Linux, Linux Mint, Omarchy,...
