@Heliograph the AI boom is what made me realize that my job (programming) is a heavily creative endeavor. just in time to be replaced...
@vgarzareyna ah they will get you back to fix the mess they created soon enough 😬
@Heliograph they better pay me a lot, I'm already dealing with AI generated code...
@vgarzareyna hi there how have you been since? did you start the new year in a new job?  β˜ΊοΈ

@Heliograph well... I'm not dealing with AI generated code atm... but still working for the same company as last time and sure as fudge are there some people still pushing LLM generated code

might look into moving jobs in the future, but since i'm considering a masters rn, and i might need to move states, it might be better to wait for that...

@Heliograph anyway, how bout you? how was new year's?
@vgarzareyna new year's was "quiet" (the fireworks woke me upπŸ™ƒ) but then my brother came visiting from New Zealand for a few days which was lovely, then I got food poisoning which wasn't super great, and now I'm enjoying the last few leave days before back to the rudders next week... it's currently insanely hot down here and Victoria is already battling with terrible fires, so I'm just taking every day as if comes...

@vgarzareyna also and just for completeness reasons, while the south is burning, the north is drowning

@Heliograph damn, i've heard winters(? are usually really rough in Australia but I didn't notice it was THAT bad... But I guess it's nice that you were able to be with your family over new year's! Yknow... silver lining(?. Although food poissoning ALWAYS sucks...

(Also I'm just noticing how many more vacation days australians get compared to us mexicans, i mean 20 days minimum + Holidays sounds pretty good tbh)

@vgarzareyna lol it's currently summer down here which are sometimes terrible, the winters are actually the best time of the year imho :,D in my house lives a nice family from Chile and they love it here, the two little niΓ±os now speak australian after only two years :D
@Heliograph hahhaha tbh i've always been confused about how people call the seasons in the south hemisphere. i did mean summer in my previous comment about how the weather is... not great hahahah (I also love winter btw, but that must be bc I live in one of the hottest parts of Mexico). im curious now, do Australians often call their language australian instead of english? :0
@vgarzareyna actually we call it #strayan what is spoken in #straya
