One of the most horrific chapters in world history is the #Holocaust. But the world, including the German citizens don't seem to have grasped the true scale of the horror until the allied forces overran the #Nazi concentration camps.

So what did the world see before 1945? I bet it looked a lot like many of the events happening today. #TerrorWatch

I will probably draw flak for 'trivializing' the Holocaust like this. But we study history for a reason. Historic events set precedents and shift the Overton window for what is possible by humans. This is why history often repeats in cycles. Never forget that there are people around who aspire to continue the legacy of the Nazis.

It's against this background that drawing parallels with even the most uncomfortable chapter in history becomes justified and even necessary. Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat its failures.

Never make the mistake of thinking that those horrors can't happen today. You may end up learning that it was happening all along, right under your nose - just like what the Germans found out. It will be too late for regrets by then.
