Good news came from Germany: BIK rejects Overlays for EN/WCAG Compliance. Another step from one-size-fits-none tools towards mindful accessibility practices!

However, I would like to point out one correction: the BIK testing procedure is not the official testing procedure in Germany. There is no such thing (even if BIK likes to pretend there is). Many accessibility experts (including those who are affected themselves) view the procedure critically, both from an organizational and a technical perspective. There are simply unrealistic details in it.

I understand that these details may not matter from the perspective of international accessibility experts, but I know the pain that BIK causes many people. My dear colleagues (such as @kc and @yatil ) could tell you much more about the details.
The official monitoring body for government websites in Germany is BFIT Bund. They often do a good job, but unfortunately they have no power to enforce changes.
