🐾 Protect Our Guardians: Science Over Fear 🐾
For decades, they have been the silent watchers of our streets—our "voiceless furry babies." But today, they face a threat not from the streets, but from misinformation and reckless policy.

The recent discourse around stray dogs is often fueled by "cooked-up" data and fear. It’s time we demand a solution that is compassionate, constitutional, and scientifically sound.

šŸ“ Why we must stand in solidarity:

Data is Being Distorted: Current "bite statistics" often reflect the number of vaccine doses administered (which includes precautionary shots for vets and pet owners), not actual incidents. We need honest data before making life-altering decisions for these animals.

Shelters are not the Answer: Science shows that "mega-shelters" often become disease hotspots. Removing dogs creates an "ecological vacuum," allowing unvaccinated animals, rats, and snakes to move in.

The ABC Success: The Animal Birth Control (ABC) program is the only WHO-recognized method to manage populations humanely. Where it is implemented correctly, rabies and populations drop.

They are Part of our Society: Research (like that from IISER Kolkata) proves our street dogs are "facultatively social"—they have evolved to live alongside us, forming stable bonds with humans.

āš–ļø Our Demand: Constitutional Recognition

We call for the Supreme Court and our governing bodies to recognize that animal welfare is a mirror of our humanity. We seek:

Strict adherence to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Protection from "mass removals" that violate the spirit of coexistence.

Transparent, auditable funding for sterilization, ensuring resources reach the animals rather than being lost to mismanagement.

Coexistence is not just a choice; it is a scientific necessity. Let’s stop "barking up the wrong tree" and start investing in the humane solutions that actually work.
