Staying on the 19th floor of the Asakusa View Hotel does indeed grant you a good view of Asakusa. We've got the Tokyo Skytree tower and the Sensō-ji temple and pagoda. I am attempting a timelapse with the Go Ultra.

Well the timelapse of the view out of our hotel window worked out pretty well. The timing was good, as it started shortly before sunset and continued just log enough into the night to capture the arrival of the snow that obscured the view. It's now snowing steadily.

Avoiding reflections is always an challenge when photographing through a window at night, but by far the biggest offender was the camera itself and it's stupid blinking red recording light on the front of the camera near the lens that doesn't synchronise itself to avoid lighting up while a timelapse frame is being taken.

While the timelapse was still recording we went out and had a good meal at a nearby sushi restaurant for the equivalent of under AUD $20 per head, including drinks. Try doing that in Sydney!

My battles with window reflections continue. I managed to block the light from the recording indicator LED this time, but once the Sun rose I got reflections of the curtains instead. I had opened them, but obviously not far enough.

Fascination with the Tokyo Skytree tower continues. Today we went inside and watched the sunset from 450 metres above the city.
Even more Skytree

@spacelizard Kura (which isn't Sushiro, but similar) has expanded in the US recently. It's fun, but when we went to the Boulder one recently it was $70 USD for two people with a drink each.

We're very much looking forward to Hokkaido next month.

@simonbp There's a "Global Flagship" branch of Kura in Asakasa, but we opted for the Sushiro because it was closer and supposedly had shorter wait times. In the end we got counter seats basically immediately, once someone helped us with the ticket machine. We'll have to try the Kura before we move on, though.
@spacelizard IMHO Sushiro is better, but we had to try the Asakusa Kura to compare against the US version. It was both better than in the US and worse than every other restaurant we went to in Japan.
@spacelizard Woah that recording LED massive design flaw or what?! (Fantastic timelapse otherwise!)

@spacelizard
Can't see the Asahi Golden Poo from there?

Edit: now I see it! Way over to the right.
I recalled the Tokyo Skytower being much closer than it appears in your photos.

@yuggy8 I can indeed, though right now it's a bit hard to make out through the falling snow.

@spacelizard
You must be able to see the Denny's from there?
And....is it open?
