I've got an appointment to go and see a rescue #bunny (or a pair of #bunnies) on Friday! So excited! We've both missed having a bun around the place and were in so much pain when we lost Dante to #megacolon last year. We're hoping that we might be allowed to adopt just a single bun, there's one little chap who was being bullied by other rabbits, so they might not be able to bond him with others. More news and hopefully pictures soon! #BunsOfMastodon #RabbitsOfMastodon
@AndyIncarnate Oh, this is such good news! That little guy will be one lucky bunny if you adopt him. We remember Dante, Angelo, and the Hopsburgs well.
@Byronrabbit Oh crikey, I didn't realise you knew them! I just mentioned this to Cat, she says hello! She's not putting anything on Facebook yet. I'm sure there will be pictures soon though.
@AndyIncarnate Great! I'm pretty down on FB, Zuckerberg, etc so I almost never post on FB anymore. I do read posts and reply. Rabbits are magic!
@Byronrabbit They certainly are! We've got a house visit to check the facilities on Friday night, we're going to see the rescue on Friday afternoon, then we're hoping it won't be long until we can adopt! Really missing having that presence in the kettle!
@AndyIncarnate In the kettle ... metaphorically, right?!
@Byronrabbit Oh crikey, I was using the word Kettle in the sense of rabbit warrens - I'm not sure how I learned about it, there's a communal "room" in most rabbit warrens where they will gather to keep warm, sharing body heat and being social. It's that sort-of space you share as a family/community, where you're warm and safe. I think it's usually quite a small, warm space. I'll see if I can find out a better explanation, it's what we call our shared space.
@AndyIncarnate That's so interesting. I had never heard that expression before. There's a national park in the Northwest Territories, Canada, that has Rabbitkettle Hot Springs. The limestone deposits are vaguely kettle shaped. Maybe the Europeans who saw them thought of rabbit warrens back home and the warmth of a kinder climate??
@Byronrabbit I don't know, I've tried searching for kettle and rabbit warren and now I can't find anything. It's a lovely idea though, even if I can't trace its origins just yet....
