My daughter scalded herself trying to make me a cup of tea. Hospital bandaged it up but it still hurt. I wrote her a "prescription" requiring her to swear like a sailor every time it hurt while in school, to help manage the pain. Awkward conversation with the head teacher.

@fesshole
Brilliant.

@fesshole Scientifically verified that swearing up a storm temporarily reduces pain and increases strength. Teacher should be apprised of the publications.

Hypoalgesic effect of swearing - Wikipedia

@fesshole I did workshop for a few years at high school. Our teacher would tell us off for swearing. Except when you injured yourself.

One particular memory is a guy who put a chisel through his hand. He was told off for not swearing enough or loud enough. Dunno how much it helped, but he certainly started getting into the swing of it.
