German Journalist accuses Israeli forces of rape after Freedom Flotilla interception

A German journalist detained aboard the Freedom Flotilla ship Conscience has accused Israeli prison authorities of raping her while in custody. Speaking publicly for the first time, Anna Liedtke said the assault occurred during a strip search while she was being transferred between Israeli prisons after Israeli forces intercepted the Gaza-bound humanitarian vessel in fall 2025.

“We were transferred from one prison to another, and during the strip searches I was raped,” she said.

Liedtke also stated that the rape and torture inflicted upon her was not an isolated crime by Israel, but a systematic war crime perpetrated against Palestinian prisoners and the Palestinian people.
