Well, I enjoyed Wake Up Dead Man quite a lot - as many have noted it's a step up from Glass Onion. While I think all three films are close in quality there's a lot more going on in terms of the actual murder plot, the cheeky nods and the overarching messages.

Now, don't get me wrong, these messages aren't subtle - but having an American film dealing with religion advocate deeds over faith and re-enforce that Christianity should oppose wealth is pretty brave.

Oh and I also finally watched Elf properly - as in not just having it on in the background while at a party.

It's okay. About twenty minutes of a really good 2000s US comedy tacked onto a deeply unremarkable Christmas film that feels like it's from the 90s. Nods to the adults in the room (eg the "syrup" in the mailroom) aged very well, the scene with Peter Dinklage … less so.

I guess Dog Soldiers is probably the next film I've watched but never *watched* to get round to.
