Nine-year-old #Ukrainian chess player #Oleksandr_Savchuk won bronze at the #World_Blitz Championship, the Ministry of Youth and Sports reported.
Competing in the boys’ under-9 category, #Oleksandr scored 6.5 points out of 9. He shared places three to five and secured bronze thanks to the best tie-break coefficient.
In the same age group, #Ukraine’s youngest titled chess player, seven-year-old #Myron_Netrebka from #Dnipro, was also close to a medal. However, he lost in the final round and finished sixth.
A total of 314 young chess players from 33 countries took part in the World Championship among boys and girls aged 9 to 17 in rapid and blitz formats, held in #Antalya, #Türkiye.
