A view from the handlebars: nearly all the people seen cycling in the 3rd week of December 2025. Roughly equal time in each area gave:

- Surrey: 13
- SW London >132 (leaving out v lo-res pix)

🤦 they’re contiguous ffs. 0.2/km vs 2.6/km - cf Inner London at ~15/km, an average EU city value. But note that all 3 have female participation below 30% which is exceptionally low for areas that have recently improved infra e.g. Lyon, Montreal, Krakow, Oslo, Valencia at 35-45%. Needs work.

@jitensha_oni I would like to see a study comparing women’s rates of riding with childcare infrastructure by area. I couldn’t ride much in my 30’s-mid 40’s because the need to constantly be available to my kids made riding an occasional recreation instead of transportation. #biketooter #labor #womensRepresentation
