Steam/SteamOS/Proton - https://store.steampowered.com/steamos
Video game distribution platform/Linux distro created by and focused on Steam/software enabling many windows games to run on Linux with great ease. Put this on my list because gaming was the one thing holding me back from Linux for a long time and Steam has done *wonders* to improve that.

Wine - https://www.winehq.org/
Proton probably wouldn't be a thing without Wine. This is the actual compatibility layer enabling windows apps to run on Linux. Proton depends on Wine directly.

Heroic Games Launcher - https://mastodon.social/@heroiclauncher
Game launcher/installer focused on GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon. Makes it super easy to get them installed on Linux, through Proton when necessary, and automatically add then to Steam. This is extremely useful on Steam Deck, especially.

SteamOS

SteamOS is Valve’s Linux-based operating system. It features a seamless user experience optimized for gaming, while retaining access to the power and flexibility of a PC, and plays tens of thousands of games on Steam. SteamOS officially ships on Steam Deck, and will soon ship with certain Legion Go S models. We’re currently working on adding support for more devices.
