Just a few spots.

Somehow, we were spared?

@Rasta

you are fortunate indeed, I heard 105,000 are without power right now.

@SnowyCA

So did I
1197 outages and 106,499 affected at this moment from NS power outage map

Those who have no power near the city at least have cellular to tell us they have no power.
Wind is getting stronger again

@Rasta

The storm is building? I don't like the sound of that. Do you have a generator?

@SnowyCA
The house shook worse than during that last hurricane that ripped the front siding off. It's still windy but not as bad as midnight was. I'll want to inspect for damage at first light, we had siding in the swimming pool during hurricane Fiona.
@Rasta
Darn, that's scary.
I hope everything is ok.
@SnowyCA 90 minutes to sunrise, we'll see
@Rasta
And is there much damage?
(really hoping it is ok)

@Rasta

115k+ customers in NS lost power. This is roughly the same proportion of Nova Scotians who lost power as Jamaicans who lost power in Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa, a category 5 hurricane had sustained winds of 295km/h. Last night we had a peak gust of just 114km/h.

We have a worse power supply, yet Canadians have 5x the GDP (PPP) of Jamaicans.
The only conclusion we can make is the wealthy are not paying their share - and we are accepting the conseqiences.

@Rasta
We were out for about 2.5 hours I think. A couple of breakers (?) need replacing to restore power upstairs.
@Rasta what does that map mean ??
