Dismantling Defenses: Trump 2.0 Cyber Year In Review

The Trump administration has pursued a staggering range of policy pivots this past year that threaten to weaken the nation’s ability and willingness to address a broad spectrum of technology challenges, from cybersecurity and privacy to countering disinformation, fraud and corruption. These shifts, along with the president’s efforts to restrict free speech and freedom of the press, have come at such a rapid clip that many readers probably aren’t even aware of them all.

Dismantling Defenses: Trump 2.0 Cyber Year in Review – Krebs on Security

@briankrebs Well. This is pretty depressing. 😞 (great piece though 🙏)
@buck yes it is. i feel like i've aged a year just compiling and writing this.

@briankrebs the key characteristic about this administration that everyone apparently seems to ignore is: they do not care about their country or countryman one bit.

If they ever acted in the best interests of the country it was to win elections or just a coincidence. That's it.

@sr3 @briankrebs The key characteristic that everyone ignores is: they don't know what they are doing. They live from a five second span to another, and each time some bonkers thought occurs to them they enact it before they forget what they were thinking.
@khleedril @briankrebs I disagree. They are incompetent, sure. But they do have a set agenda: grabbing as much money and power as they can and the plan they have is project 2025
@sr3 @briankrebs It is true that their random ideas are more actionable to them if they involve power and money grabs, but that doesn't make it a defined agenda. Let's steal some oil tankers, charge $300M for a ballroom and steal the surplus, mint some Trump bitcoins (whatever they are) and rug-pull, take Greenland, etc, etc, etc.

@khleedril @briankrebs that was trump's first term. This time around its different, it started before the election with the drafting of project 2025.

Think about the consolidation of power that's been happening since the start of this administration.

Remember the "You'll never have to vote again" this wasn't just another nonsensical phrase, it is the very definition of this administration.

@khleedril @briankrebs every thing they do now is more a demonstration of what they can do and not be stopped. They don't care about what any potential next administration could do to make them face justice because they know it just will not happen.
