I propose the rule of reciprocity of attention. Any AI generated test deserves no more than an AI generated answer. Any AI generated research question deserves nothing better than AI generated data. Any AI generated summary, text, deck, document, mail, post, song, video, message, thought-piece or essay deserves attention up to but not exceeding the time required for prompt engineering or whatever laziness passes for thinking these days. #AI #slop #burnItAll

@letterror How was it? “Don’t expect me to spend time reading an article you couldn’t be bothered to write.”

Not sure who said that, but I think it was a person.

@rosetta Pretty terrible. Human thought is redesignated as “fixing mistakes in the generated output”. Which is still the same work as it ever was, but with a lower paygrade. If paid at all.
There’s the always relevant “I would have written a shorter letter but I didn’t have enough time” which might have been Twain?

@letterror I had this notion of an originality measure derived from the computational power needed to reproduce/generate something. Easier to reproduce, say one lake of water needed for cooling, would mean less original. Three lakes, more original. etc. It’s a draft…
@rosetta Yikes. And the number of jet engines that keep the datacenter running.
@letterror @rosetta What is the science fiction series where magic is possible, but your exhaustion after preforming an act of magic equals the energy it would take to preform the act without magic, @veryrobin?
@monokrom @rosetta @veryrobin Could that be Lev Grossman’s Magicians trilogy?
@letterror @rosetta @veryrobin I thought for a moment it was Flartland, but it is Discworld.
@monokrom @rosetta @veryrobin I like that idea though. This prompt will cost you 22 days of your life. Proceed?
