If you’re looking for an easy #Linux OS for grandma, I can highly recommend #ZorinOS.

Ubuntu flavored, looks like a cross between Windows 11 and macOS, has its own app store and took me about 30 minutes to download, install and be ready to rock and roll, including it already enabling the smart card reader out of the box.

Slightly trickier: adding Surface Pro touch screen, etc support (about another hour) and enabling TPM booting again. (1/2)

Really, really tricky: Getting the smart card reader to be the method of login and autolocking the screen whenever it is removed. (I am about halfway through documenting the recipe—I don’t think it’s ever been written up for Ubuntu 24/ZorinOS 18.)
