I just learned that ICE seized and deported a long-time resident of my hometown back in Pennsylvania. Carlos is a family man. He worked in the local schools and at the YMCA as a janitor. He has been in America since the 1990s. He has legal status. He has a Real ID. He has a social security number. He pays taxes. He has no criminal record.

But they scooped him up. Shuffled him through various detention centers. Treated him like he was a criminal. Took away his ID. Took away his diabetes medicine and threw it in the trash. And then shipped him to Nogales, Mexico. Where he is staying with cousins and trying to get medical care.
So, naturally, I'm on the job.
America is completely broken. And perhaps, this time, it is broken beyond repair.

Our country's new #immigration policy is nakedly racist. And the Supremes say racial profiling is A-OK. If you are black or brown, watch out. And people shake their heads and say, "We're better than this." No -- we are not. There were multiple chances. Multiple off ramps. But this is what we chose. And it's not just naked racism. It's the corruption.

We have become a nation where corruption is open, rampant, and celebrated. It's all about power and money. Everybody is willing to sell out, bow down, kiss the ring, and get their bag (or their lifetime appointment).
A small band of ultra wealthy and corporate elites control everything. There are no rules for these people. They own the politicians. They're in bed with many judges.

And everybody else? You're basically fucked. Better have a full-time job, two side hustles, and a team of lawyers to navigate the maze of corporate greed and corruption. Health insurance? That will be $2,700 a month. But try to use it -- just try. Joke's on you. Record breaking profits for the health insurance companies.

The current order of things is no longer sustainable. Institutional legitimacy is gone. Courts. Elected officials. Universities. Media. Regulatory agencies. None of these actors have any #moral standing or legitimacy. They are all tainted.
And economics? A rigged game. Massive corporate gains while wages have stagnated. Younger people locked out of housing, having families, and upward mobility.
