I'm gonna be honest, give they're talking of a large scale diversion near Emmerich, I'm not optimistic any of the 3neos today will actually go via Duisburg. Which might make this close to actually impossible without some serious diverting from where I need to go
Part of me is wishing I'd taken that 3neo yesterday and not gotten talked into taking a 4. Swapping the two seems much more tolerable a modification of the rules than "now I need to take a 3neo out of Köln only to then take a regio straight back to Köln"; we spent so much effort not to double back on ourselves this would feel like massively cheating just to have been on the train technically
...and right as I was about to give up, the 3neo to Amsterdam still stopped here changed its routing to have a via stop in Mönchengladbach... so I hopped on right as the doors were closing, as that actually works. Magic.
and I've made it to Mönchengladbach, fulfilling my last required train model while putting me on an itinerary that avoids going right back to Köln after, wheeee
This is actually a kind of pretty station, but I've only ever gone here as the result of getting severely bahned - I should come on purpose sometime perhaps
