So Google recommended this in my news feed. Love how the UK Government's response to rampant and massive social and economic problems is to ban a relatively low-harm substance.

I love that the Guardian is also helping them do the hit piece.

It's amazing the lengths people in power will go to not confront their own culpability in the situation of things.

@F3715H @GordonFawks Germany now made them 18+ for no good reason, basically making it impossible for minors to do traineeships for cooks and bakers...

@kkarhan @F3715H Having worked in Kitchens I am really not sure that's quite the environment I would be having minors in. Everyone is on something and if you don't think they are you don't know what you are looking for.

They're also one of the more dangerous work environments I know unless you're just doing Barista work. I direct you to the WSIB kitchen safety PSA.

@GordonFawks @F3715H Sorry to break it to you but when do you guess people seek a traineeship as a cook?

  • Most likely after they had 9th or 10th grade school graduation, so even if they started school at age 7 and not 5 or 6, they'd still be under 18.

That's not uncommon but the norm in tuat field.

@kkarhan @F3715H I don't usually see trainee programs here until college (university age). I could go through High-school curriculums again but I did co-op placements in high-school and there was nothing in the culinary arts.

Although you could do stuff like auto or computer tech work.

@GordonFawks @F3715H mayhe that's because Apprenticeships.and Traineeships have died out in your area?

Cuz in Germany they didn't!

@kkarhan @F3715H Oh, they certainly did at that age. You seem to have a very different school system there.

But they also died here in the 1950's, when compulsory education really got put in to up to 18's.
