Ah it's that kind of day… I cut the rabbet on the wrong side of the board 🤦‍♂️ Luckily I still have matching scraps left for gluing it on again.

Then: nibbling away very short pieces of endgrain at a time from the end of the stopped rabbet so as not to blow out that end… 🥵

I hate brass screws. Especially if they're only 2 mm thick. Should've pre-drilled with a bigger drill size.

Luckily this area here will be covered by the hardware that I was trying to screw on.
