I've been eyeing up Oodies for a while now, but just found out they're giving money to JK Rowling and helping fund her campaign to eradicate trans people, so I guess I'm gonna be shopping elsewhere.
They also only have accounts on X and Meta. 1/4

People don't see the harm in licensed products; they don't see the harm in a company having accounts only on X & Meta.
But it's not like profits going to bad things is new. Do they not know about the anti-apartheid boycotts, for example?
And it's hardly a secret that those sites are evil. 2/4
If you say "Just find us on Facebook" for product support, what you're actually saying is "You can't have product support, because anti-trans hate drove you off Facebook."
If you only post on X, a huge chunk of your customer base won't see your posts.
And if you fund hate, well... fuck you! 3/4
I know it doesn't mean that Oodie are evil. I'm sure they're lovely people. But they are showing themselves to be part of a privileged subset of businesses I'm seeing all too often:
"We're not affected by this, so we don't care about it."
Either that or they aren't even aware of the harm. 4/4
