The German government has committed half a billion euros for research on long COVID and other post-infection syndromes including ME/cfs.

This is to support their National Decade Against Post-Infectious Diseases from 2026 to 2036.
They aim “to cover a range of topics, including the pathophysiology and immunology of the conditions, diagnostics and biomarkers, mental health and neurology, and long-term consequences on health” - a deliberately broad scope to give scientists freedom versus restrictions.
