I'd been hearing about Wiki Edu and the Wikipedia Assignment on various listservs for a while, and this past semester I ran it for the first time with my "Data and Society" class, and *wow* it is so incredible! We all trained to become Wikipedia editors and students contributed to a range of articles while thinking through content gaps, representational politics, research/citation practices, and the presumed "objectivity" of data.

I highly recommend that university instructors (of any subject) consider trying it out in their classes:

Students enjoyed getting to work on something that (as one put it) "people are actually going to see and not just [the instructor]"

This breadth was a result of my specific class/curriculum, but many students were able to take topics they've learned in their other classes and directly apply them -- I had folks write about species classifications, histories of local communities, Maori filmmakers, economic policies, and more! It was so energizing to see students engage with this work

And the last plug that I'll give is that from the instructor perspective, the Wikipedia Education team has put a *ton* of work into setting this up and creating a great experience for everyone. Training modules are clear & approachable, + there's so many options for how you want to integrate Wikipedia into your class.

It's my 1st term at a new institution, and this class was a new prep, so having so much content to build upon was a godsend
