You do good and important work, but please do it from somewhere else, where you are not easily subjectable to fascist ‘law’

Unfortunately if you start penalizing every US company — even the ones doing good work — due to the actions of an administration you don't agree with, you probably end up doing more harm than good.
We need people within the US fighting the good fight — right now especially. More power to the likes of @signalapp and @eff.

For those with stock, donating stock via “donor advised funds” is a huge tax win over cash donations. Plus funds grow with the market as well. I wish I learned this decades ago.

Nemo@signalapp I remember the day I donated $50 and got a silly little award in the app. I also remember losing that award 30d later and being asked to donate again.
@signalapp I always get an 'Unable to process donation' error on the app. I am trying to use an American Express INR card from India to process a recurring monthly donation.
Any help?
It's a miniscule amount, but hey I am doing this more for myself and my conscience, than for Signal as such.

They always say, 'If you don't want to donate through the app, there's a website...' But you won't get the 'Sponsor' badge in the app.

Neil@signalapp I occasionally donate to Signal, and would be willing to do monthly, but the minimum monthly is too much for me to afford. Not everyone is on a North American tech job salary. I originally backed WhatsApp for years before the acquisition, I now no longer use it for privacy concerns. But I find signal prohibitively expensive at the minimum level.

Ingmar Rieger@signalapp Add a backup function (afaik there was one for Android for years) so that I can have my data outside of the App and make it open („federation“ or something like that). We saw enough how problematic centralized services are. Then I‘m happily donating!
