Evening drive southbound near the county line. Same highway I always take, different mood.

I spend a lot of time chasing gravel roads and tiny lines on topo maps, but nights like this are a good reality check: you don’t always need a forest road to feel that “on the way somewhere” calm. Sometimes it’s three lanes, 65 mph, and the sun burning out the last embers of the day.

Trying to remember that the world right next to my usual routine is still worth noticing. The “micro-pilgrimage” can just be the drive home.

What’s a completely ordinary road near you that turns into something else when the light hits it right? Share stories or pictures of your favorite moments that the world didn't just go by unnoticed.

@AdventureAdjacent This pic was taken from Google Maps of the Buford-Spring connector in Atlanta. I wish I could get you the eveningtime picture - it's wonderful. This road runs alongside 75/85 until it bends away to the east while rising significantly above the highway.

The vantage point lets you see the highway from above, and Atlantic Station across it. Then to the other side is a great view of midtown on to downtown, including my favorite tall building which is the Four Seasons.

@Nundrum Oh this is fantastic, thank you for the mini tour.

That curve with the city stacking up in front of you feels like you’re being poured into Atlanta instead of just dropped off at an exit. I can totally picture how wild that must look in evening light.

I love that everyone has “their” stretch of road where the place finally comes into focus—thanks for sharing yours with me!!
