Actually I don't think so. That's literally what the r right wing libertarians more or less want, a completely castrated federal government. What is exactly what project 2025 is about.

When the GOP says they want to reduce the size of government, they mean specifically austerity and the ending of social welfare programs. But they're very happy to have a very large police state to enact their own right-wing agenda.

If memory serves, at least for some libertarians the end game are city states governed by corporations. With that pesky democracy thing gone for good, replaced by the rule of money, or as they like to put it, genius.

It's a mix of them.
Call it an unholy coalition. That can agree on a small intersection set, and sometimes that can lead to odd meetings when an anti-Semite supporter meets a Jewish supporter and they start to discuss if Jews should be exterminated.
But yes the current breed of (US) fascists carry a number of libertarian ideas with them, even if their whole program was such might be incompatible.

Let me be more precise, the libertarians would probably prefer to do away with the whole federal government at least in practical means.
The Trump regime is delivering the dismantling of the administrative state while at the same time even building up the repressive state power (his whole personal hooligans, well funded ICE).

My point was sinply to highlight the hypocrisy of how the US federal government is somehow good despite it having unilateral power to override state power, meanwhile the EU parliament and associated institutions are bad for state sovereignty evem though the EU can't do shit without state cooperation.

Hippy Steve@eunews They are sovereign. lol. A key aspect of sovereignty is the right to enter into agreements and treaties with other nations. That is exactly what they have done. If a country like The UK wants to renegotiate those agreements they can, which is what the foolhardy brexit was.
