Is Signal another walled garden, or are you referring to Meta’s construction of a walled garden?
That sounds like a great option for privacy, but how would you ensure it doesn’t lead to abuse, such as spam?

@signalapp Why should I donate when the CEO gets such a huge compensation already?
Aren't there discount CEOs available?
EDIT: idk what I was misremembering (maybe the 35.8 $M expenses/revenue) but this shows the c-suite compensation and it is less than I remembered.

EDIT2: all the employees are getting $20 mil combined. Not sure how much of that is c suite.

@semitones @signalapp Brian Acton, the acting CEO, has no salary. The president is Meredith Whittaker. Her salary is about $800k.

And her salary doesn't even crack the top 10 charity executive salaries in the world.
Here is the top 10:

@Avitus @signalapp Hmm those are not the numbers I saw before, which were in the millions. I'll have to check my sources / correct my memory.

@semitones @signalapp If your source wasn't their IRS Form-990, it's incorrect.

GAVE UP!
@signalapp Yes, I did! 🙂
Did you think about donating to the Mastodon server you're using?
We're also a non-profit.
@signalapp been doing it for ages now. Nothing is free, so I donate to all software and services I regularly use.
More people should do so. Big Tech made "free" services way too normalised. People want privacy, but hardly realise that those "free" services are paid too...
