If you're on aprs.fi and looking at my #APRS position for #HamRadio reasons, please disregard this apparent movement.

The conversion of google maps' bajillion digits lat and lon to deg-mm-ss, as #YAAC understands it, is not so good.

So I had to poke at the numbers and hit "Save" a bunch of times to get it close to reality.

YAAC really should have a point-at-the-map move-STATION-to-here thing, 'cuz their Beacon settings tab is shit.

On a related note, my APRS iGate USED to be run on a #RaspberryPi but is now on a #MacMini with Xubuntu.

I can do even more #HamRadio things when I have a single computer with THREE USB connections:
#FTdx3000
#RigBlasterAdvantage (dual-bander)
#Behringer desktop mixer

e.g. I can stop the APRS iGate & instead spin up 2m crossband to HF, controlled by my iPhone.

That crossband thing... that allowed me to work a #POTA station last night from the back yard shed, where my HF station is not.

I tuned to them & heard them over my iPhone.

I transmitted on 2m FM Narrow with my HT, and the TYT dual-bander that usually is doing the APRS thing was instead tuned to a 2m simplex freq.

A python webserver app does the routing from RIGblaster to FTdx3000, plus handles VOX.

@kelvin0mql So I slapped my Kill-A-Watt on one of my Linux Mac Minis a couple of weeks ago...looks like it's slated to use about 5.46 kWh in a month, so less than a dollar? Probably would be more with load, but that's not awful.

@jima
It’s not bad. I’m pleased to be reducing how many computers I’m running 24x7. Now the Raspberry’s only job is #HamClock.

Man, I have a LOT of computers to unload before we move next year. Oof.

@kelvin0mql GEEZ Kelvin; do you have a big enough head that you think people are stalking you to the point where they'd notice the disparity? 👀

Next thing you know, you'll be musing over who has your house pinned on their map. 🙄

(In my defense, I was curious how far you were from my buddy — well, sort of — up there. Quarter mile!)

@jima

Heh, yeah, I have no such qualms.

People might want to AVOID me, though... so there's that.
