I've built a web app to create bicycle routes. It's limited to Western Europe while in beta. If that's where you ride your bike, feel free to give it a try! #cycling

Planning a bike ride should be as much fun as riding your bike.

@bluecrowbar Really cool!

Would you mind some constructive feedback? Like many OSM-based cycle maps, it tends to favor bike paths alongside busy roads rather than the Belgian “cycle highways.”

For instance, when considering the route from Leuven to Tervuren, it chooses the Tervuursesteenweg, whereas I would prefer to take the F29 cycle highway.

@cimm I love constructive feedback. Thanks!

The algorithm currently favours roads with bike infrastructure, and those can indeed be busy roads. The F29 would also be over 10% longer. One thing I've been thinking about is showing the fietssnelwegen on the map in a way that doesn't add too much clutter. That way you can at least see where they are if you don't know the region.

@cimm It's probably going to need some more tweaking, but I've added a bit more weight to national cycle routes for now. For the F29, you'll have to select the Gravel profile though, since it has some offroad sections. I've also added an option at the bottom of the side panel to show or hide national cycle routes, in case you want to create your routes in a more manual way.
